Conway High School is proud to announce the members of our Inaugural Athletic Hall of Fame Class—a distinguished group of Tigers whose achievements have left an enduring mark on our school, our community, and the world of athletics. Norris Brown emerged from Conway High School as the number one-ranked football player in South Carolina and was named the Shrine Bowl Most Valuable Player. He continued his standout career as a four-year letterman at Clemson University, where his outstanding accomplishments earned him induction into the Clemson Athletic Hall of Fame. Brown's success on the field culminated with his selection in the NFL Draft by the Seattle Seahawks, solidifying his place among Conway High School's most accomplished athletes. Bryan Edwards, a 2016 graduate of Conway High School, enjoyed an outstanding football career that continued well beyond his time as a Tiger. He was selected to play in the prestigious U.S. Army All-American Bowl before continuing his career at the University of South Carolina. There, he became the Gamecocks' all-time leader in receptions with 234 and set the school record for receiving yards with 3,045. His success at the collegiate level led to his selection by the Las Vegas Raiders in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Junior Hemingway: A 2007 graduate of Conway High School, Junior Hemingway was recognized as one of the nation's top football prospects after earning Shrine Bowl honors and being named an ESPN Top 20 Prospect. He continued his football career at the University of Michigan, where he was a four-year letterman and played a key role in the Wolverines' 2012 Sugar Bowl victory, earning the game's Most Valuable Player award. Hemingway finished among Michigan's all-time leaders in receiving yards before being selected in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. Grant Holmes: A 2014 graduate of Conway High School, Grant Holmes established himself as one of the nation's premier high school baseball players. During his senior season, he was named the 2013–14 South Carolina Gatorade Player of the Year and earned Under Armour All-American honors. His exceptional talent led to him being selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers with the 22nd overall pick in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft. After years of dedication and perseverance, Holmes achieved his lifelong dream by making his Major League Baseball debut with the Atlanta Braves on June 16, 2024. Shamae Hemingway Johnson: A 2000 graduate of Conway High, Shamae Hemingway Johnson is recognized as one of the greatest women's basketball players in Conway High School history. Following her outstanding high school career, she became a four-year letterman at Coker College, where she finished among the top three all-time leading scorers in program history. Johnson later returned to Conway High School as the head girls' basketball coach, leading the Lady Tigers to the Lower State Championship game in 2016 and continuing her legacy of excellence while inspiring the next generation of student-athletes. Chuck Jordan dedicated 34 years to Conway High School as its head football coach, building one of the most successful programs in South Carolina. Over his remarkable career, he compiled a record of 287 victories and 143 losses while leading the Tigers to 11 region championships and five appearances in the state championship game. His excellence on the sidelines earned him Coach of the Year honors 11 times. Beyond his coaching accomplishments, Coach Jordan's leadership and commitment to Conway athletics helped raise the funds needed to build the Conway Tiger Athletic Complex, leaving a lasting impact on generations of student-athletes. These outstanding individuals have exemplified excellence through their accomplishments as athletes and coaches while representing Conway High School with pride, determination, and integrity. Their achievements have inspired generations of Tigers and helped shape the rich tradition of Conway High athletics. We are honored to recognize their remarkable contributions and celebrate their lasting legacy as the first-ever inductees into the Conway High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
